There is more buzz around now that the Edmonton Oilers have announced more details surrounding the banner raising ceremony for the legendary coach, general manager and executive Glen Sather. It was Sather who drafted Grant Fuhr to the Edmonton Oilers in 1981, guiding Fuhr to the ranks among the top goalies in the league. Hence, it is without question that Fuhr will be in attendance to commemorate the career of Sather’s.

The banner ceremony will be an evening to remember as Sather and his family will be joined by fellow banner honourees as his banner is raised to the hallowed rafters of Rexall Place. It will take place prior to the Oilers’ home game against the New York Rangers on December 11, 2015 at 6:20pm. Sather will have his name on a banner go up into the rafters to fly alongside the names and numbers of those he molded into Hockey Hall of Fame players, including Gretzky, Mark Messier, Jari Kurri, Paul Coffey, Glenn Anderson and Grant Fuhr.
